At 10:26a -0500 09/23/2003, Bill Planey didst inscribe upon an electronic papyrus:

I will be getting into a project soon that will have as one of its
requirements the assembly of thumbnail versions of high-res digital images
into a contact-sheet-like layout for printout. Color adjustments will not be
applied to them.

I will use AS to facilitate this automatically... Does anyone have any
recommendations for what program I should use for the thumbnails? iPhoto?
InDesign? FileMaker Pro? ...or can Photoshop handle this?

Are we assuming all images are right-side up so no rotation is needed?

Are we talking OS X?

If answers to the above are both "yes" then you could use ImageMagick's "convert" command (Unix shell).

You could also script GraphicConverter.
