Download Jon's Commands X 3.0 for Mac OS X. It's a scripting addition,
and as far as I know, was also the only way to change the monitor
resolution via AppleScript in Mac OS 9 as well.
See <http://www.seanet.com/~jonpugh/>.

I thought I'd throw it into the mix again.
I'd like to be able to script a change in monitor color depth. I have
some old software that requires 256 colors, so I want to switch from
millions to 256 and back again. Does anyone know how to do it?
I'm running OS X 10.2.6 on a G4 tower.
TIA
Jon's Commands for earlier versions of the Mac OS included a "set
screens to" command. The OS X version does not appear to have that
command. Have you found a way around this?
