Things make a whole lot more sense if you can just figure out what's
actually going on. Sometimes it can help to check the current value of a
variable by inserting temporary commands like 'display dialog t', 'log v',
'say t', 'beep n times', etc. (Since I'm easily confused, I often resort to
this kind of skulduggery.) ;-)
