At 02:44p -0600 04/01/2004, Oakley Masten didst inscribe upon an electronic papyrus:

How do I get information about the system?

I have looked at the dictionary of the "Apple System Profiler"
and have been able to get the whole profile as a document.
BUT can not get individual parts.

How would I go about getting just the "user name"

do shell script "echo $user"

or "ethernet address"

Good question.

or "RAM available" etc ?

You can get physical RAM from sysctl; not sure what "available" means under VM.
