I use the Satimage "backup" command. It has few limitations but has been
very reliable. The script I use operates on the frontmost Finder window. You
can see the entire script here:
http://Gnarlodious.com/Apple/AppleScript/Finder/Equalize.html
I have also played around with RsyncX, which works well and is
Applescriptable. The application is poorly documented and the discussion
boards are barely functional. The problem is that shell's 'rsync' does not
support the Mac resource fork. Installing RsyncX adds a module to the rsync
command to support resource files so rsync won't work as plain vanilla.
The problem of syncing Mac folders is a persistent and annoying one.
Questions regularly appear on the discussion boards about syncing and the
consensus is "there isn't any easy way". All we can hope is that it gets
solved soon.
