Well, I have been able to click other buttons in the window using the UI scripting method, but not
all the buttons. Some of the other buttons react the same way: they look like they get clicked, but the action isn't done. Weird.
I haven't tried using other actions in the applescript dictionary, since they don't really apply to what I need to do. I just tried to use the other command listed in the AS dictionary under the Nikon Suite, but it didn't work, but maybe because I haven't a clue as to what to give it as input??
I know that NC was scriptable in earlier versions (at least I was told that by someone at Kaidan), but I just assume it is because of the commands in the dictionary. It has a Nikon Capture Suite, Standard and Required suites, miscellaneous standards, odds and ends, and Nikon Suite all listed, most of which have a number of commands listed. I tried tossing in some in a script. Since I wasn't sure what arguments to use, I didn't get far. If I just left off the arguments, I got the same "Nikon Capture Editor got an error: Can't continue {whatever command I used}" in Applescript editor.

Hello all and I apologize in advance for the long post. I have a tricky question for you.

The application opens, but I get an Applescript Error
"Nikon Capture Editor got an error: Can't continue takepicture." and it doesn't take a picture.
Hmm...
Not sure, but is it granted that Nikon Capture really supports AppleScript (hereafter AS)?
Looking at Nikon's site, I couldn't find any reference to AS; after all, it wouldn't be the first time that software writers prepare the field for AS without really supporting it: you then just have a dictionary, but nothing useful...
Some more googling didn't convince me of anything related to AS.
On the other hand, as far as I can tell, you also might have some version/firmware problem.
Are you able to perform any very basic operation from AS?
This is not meant to discourage you. Sincerely.
Just to avoid too much sweat in case your problem would in the final reduce to the quest for the holy grail.
But I of course hope to be wrong :-)
Axel
