I have managed to get it to work using the send apple event script step as
you have described though not with 100% reliability. But I'm much further
down the road than I was before.
The Perform AppleScript step method doesn't seem to work in this case
though. The script just sits there indefinitely, I think this is because
FileMakers menus are locked during a FileMaker script
It's a shame, really. But it *did* work for a certain combination of
factors -- it was FMP 5.0 running under, I think, Mac OS 7.6.1. I was
able to colorize my CDML Reference.fp5 description/example text by
running ScriptMaker scripts which did a Perform AppleScript whose
script text was 'do menu menu item 39 of menu "Text color" of menu
"Format" --med green'. (and 42 for medium blue, both assuming an
88-color palette) They don't work under 5.5/Jaguar, though; now I get
the -10000 error. :(
As for running an app, do Send Apple Event ["theApplet", "aevt", "oapp"].
