That's OK. But you won't find my original reply in the list archives (may
not be what you meant). I sent it to you directly, not to the list, because
I forgot I was testing with that "override" setting off in Entourage. If you
never got it, it can only be because you have very aggressive spam filtering
that filtered me as Junk when my message wasn't coming from the list and I'm
not in your Address Book. So you might find my message in your Junk folder
(or your ISP's) if you haven't deleted it already, which you probably have.
So, OK, here it is again:
(Sent 2/17/04):
The reason for that is that Outlook doesn't use proper standards for its
.ics files. Entourage (Entourage X, at any rate) knows how to interpret the
skewed Outlook version, but Outlook doesn't know how to treat correct
standards. (For too long it was used just as an "intranet" within companies,
but it really should start behaving better one of these days. Fat chance.)
Until that ever gets fixed (and it will be worth checking in the next
version of Entourage if you have an Exchange server in your office - not too
long to wait), you'd have to script Entourage to send out Windows-type .csv
files which can be imported into Calendar folders in Outlook. Or (shameless
plug) you could get my shareware "Export-Import Entourage X" which does it
for you. If you tried it a few times with one copy, and inspected the text
and .csv files it makes, you might be able to work it out yourself, although
there are a lot of hurdles for the unwary. But not if you need recurring
events - parsing those recurrence strings can take months.
