I would try something like...
[...snip...]
set myInvCode to cell "InventoryCode" of record id myID

Oh good. (I didn't test it, hehe.)

What I'd like to know is, where and how is that syntax documented? I could never have divined that from the FMP dictionary or the Apple Events doc that came with Filemaker.

In my case, I simply saw many code samples posted on various mailing lists (MacScript, FMPro-L, etc.) over the years, and absorbed the syntax by osmosis. :)
