Don't you leave your browser open for weeks at a time? Or your email
client? Or...

There is always something 'bad/inefficient/gauche' about leaving things open
that don't behave well when they are ignored.

Stable personality and a sense of humor are essential determinants for
healthy social interaction.

As for AS applets (hate that term), I made MacSFTPiper, which is a very
convenient stay-open that allows multiple file objects to be dragged to it,
for upload via SFTP. It is responsive, runs without tripping, and there is
just no other real way to do what I want (quickly) without having an
application listening in the background.

Don't worry. That's what 'Stay-open' is for. And you can even make it an
FBA that loads like a System Extension (in Classic/OS9 at least.)
