At 08:57p -0800 02/26/2004, Seth Willits didst inscribe upon an
electronic papyrus:
I'd like to be able to enable, disable, attach, and remove folder
actions in whatever way in either AppleScript or Carbon. I've been
looking all over and can't figure out how to do it. I've even been
experimenting with modifying the FolderActions plist but despite
creating a file *exactly* the same as the one normally created,
nothing will make OS X recognize my changes (logout, restart,
nothing). I'd really like to be able to do this and I'm sure it
must be possible.
Uhh, not via a plist file. It's done by scripting System Events.
OS X ships with sample scripts from Apple... although they don't all
work properly. Study the dictionary of System Events -- the answers
are there.
Well, there's one answer that isn't: a script does not have to reside
in any particular place; System Events is perfectly happy attaching a
script from anywhere, despite the existence of a special folder
action scripts folder.
