Before you do that, know that the information is available for free, though not in a particularly pretty form. All current (publicly published) OS error codes are listed in the file MacErrors.h, which is part of the Developer Tools package -- see /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Frameworks/CarbonCore.framework/Headers/MacErrors.h. (Or you can grab a slightly out-of-date version from my iDisk <http://homepage.mac.com/c.nebel>.)
The "Get error information ..." Smile tool (included in the standard distribution) is just a human interface to MacErrors.h - it contains MacErrors.h.
BTW if you get a more recent or more exhaustive MacErrors.h, you can open it in Smile, select "Get error information .." with the ctrl key pressed, it will load the new file and use it then on instead of the preset one.
