Resizing Dialog box

I`m sure this is a super basic question but is it possible to resize a dialog box so that it (the dialog box window, not the input field) fills the whole screen (thereby effectively blocking view of processes going on behind in other applications? Probably sounds weird but it`s what I want.) How is the setting different from changing finder windows?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
