Your post (as well as Deivy's one) made me remember of following.
I once discovered by accident some preference key, by clicking for the
first time on some checkbox and by looking at the corresponding
preferences file (sorry not to be more precise, but I really don't
remember more...). As I had by chance looked just before at that same
preference file, I could notice the new key.
I thus asked myself if it could be possible to find some exhaustive and
up-to-date list of those keys for the various system preferences and for
the Finder.
I looked on Apple's site, in the developer tools headers... no success.
So, my question is: how the hell did you find about "AppleShowAllFiles",
then about "ShowAllMode" ?!? :-)
Most of that stuff is buried within the Developer/Xcode Tools packages.
Join the Apple Developer Connection at <https://connect.apple.com/> (it's
free) and then download them. A good explanation is contained in the
Developer/Documentation/UserExperience/Conceptual/PreferencePanes//PreferencePanes.html
file on your machine after installing the tools.
Thanks for the reply John, but... ;-)
I think my post was somewhat misleading; I should have written:
