I can't get Folder Actions to work.
I am just starting to learn AppleScript. A came across a page
explaining how to use Folder Actions & I figured I try to learn how to
use them, but it was for MaxOSX 10.3, & I have MacOSX 10.2.8. The 1st
difference was that I didn't have the menu item "Attach folder action"
in my contextual menu in the Finder.
I found some Folder Action scripts that must have came installed on the
computer in "Macintosh HD:Library:Scripts". I used one called "Attach
Script to Folder.scpt" & I ran it, attaching a simple script that opens
a dialog when the folder is opened. I opened the chosen folder & the
script did not run. I tried attaching a Folder Action script that came
with the computer, & it still did not run. I looked in a preference
file called "com.apple.FolderActions.plist" which stated that the
Folder Actions were enabled. The file looks like this (I don't know if
this information is helpful...):
Root Dictionary
folderActions Array
0 Dictionary
alias Data <00000000 00e60002 (etc...)
scripts Array
0 Dictionary
name String ExampleFolderActionScript copy.scpt
folderActionsEnabled Boolean Yes
Is this what the file is supposed to look like? I don't see the name of
the folder I selected anywhere (~/Pictures), but maybe it's stored in
"alias"...
Can someone help me figure out how to get these things to work?
Thanks,
Dan
