Before you do that, know that the information is available for free,
though not in a particularly pretty form. All current (publicly
published) OS error codes are listed in the file MacErrors.h, which
is part of the Developer Tools package -- see
/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Frameworks/
CarbonCore.framework/Headers/MacErrors.h. (Or you can grab a
slightly out-of-date version from my iDisk
<http://homepage.mac.com/c.nebel>.)
Actually MacErrors.h only contains a fraction (around 3000 errors in
the file) of all the errors Apple has ever used at somewhere around
8000 errors.

Naturally, since MacErrors.h only contains the ones that are in current
use. Black & Bleu has every single one they've ever heard of -- 7,817
in the current version, including ones that are arguably not Mac OS
errors, such as Java errors. Many of them, such as the Quickdraw GX
errors, are unlikely to occur on a modern system. Nonetheless, B&B is
a nicer interface than grubbing through a text file, and has a bunch of
other information besides. I'm not wild about their interface, but
it's functional.
