Thank you; that is the point I was trying to make. It's the same process regardless.

Yes, but AppleScript doesn't know that. It doesn't really know what specifiers ultimately mean; it just knows that it's got two object specifiers, and they're different -- end of story. I suppose you could apply a rule that says "if they're exactly the same aside from the containing application, then they're equal", but workarounds are plentiful, and the real solution is to make "process" a built-in object, so there's not much point.
