I don't know that AppleScript can help much but I personally wouldn't consider any mail reader that didn't let ME choose the font and size in which I read my mail. What mail program are you using? Outlook? Is it AppleScriptable?
Normal email does not contain any specification for font or size. It's possible to use some styles and it is now possible to prepare emails in the HTML web format for "pages". Both can be ignored with a setting or filter in Eudora (my preference). Mail as HTML is almost 100% SPAM and you might consider simply throwing all such stuff away with a filter. Styled mail is quite rare now.
