At 01:33p +0100 07/02/2004, Paul Tuckey didst inscribe upon an electronic papyrus:

There used to be a simple way of triggering a server side AppleScript with a
web browser via FileMaker Pro 3 through 6 using Lasso or FileMakers web
Companion doscript command. With FileMaker 7 this capability has been
removed.

Yikes.

Are there workable alternative methods of triggering server side
AppleScripts from a web browser on a standard OSX (Panther) box possibly
using PHP or Perl?

Well, Perl could do something like system("osascript whatever.as")...
...or perhaps `osascript whatever.as`...
