Yup that's right. In FileMaker 7 go to ScriptMaker, create a new script and
click on the Indicate Web compatibility check box. Many useful script steps
have been removed including most worryingly Perform AppleScript. Hence my
need of a work around.

Not knowing mush about Perl I may need spoon feeding, are there any online
examples I can look at with snippets of code I can try?
