Yes it does, but maybe what's confusing you is that each application [which opens a connection to AppleScript] maintains its own text item delimiters.

Sure it should not.

This being said, you may want to know that Smile has a shortcut for that:

"set AppleScript's text item delimiters to x" can be said "tid(x)"
