Is there a better way? If it requires sendmail/postfix to
be running and that isn't running as a default. How can this
be mailed to me in the background with no config to be
performed on that machine?

I used to use an OSAX that allowed me to put my own SMTP
settings in the script and use that in the background to send
error messages back to support. Is there no way to do this
in OS X without configuring sendmail/postfix.
