Agreed it might be a long shot. I just figured it might be that something in
the user domain environment affects how something in local domain is called.
Possibly the user lacks certain rights? If so, I have no idea what would
happen when the user tries to open it's AS dictionary. I wouldn't be too
surprised if you'd see a "can't get aete" instead of a "you have no rights".
But this is all just guessing. Zero investigating ;) (Plus you said this
problem existed in pre-Mac OS X incarnations, where of course there was no
concept of user permissions. So I may well be way off.)
