No problem here.

Do you have your Speech Recognition settings configured in such a way as to
wait for you to do something before the system will hear you? For example, I
have mine set to wait until the the escape key is pressed.

Another little tip for this: Use the Go keyboard shortcut (command-shift-G)
after you hit the browse button when Script Editor tells you it can't find
SpeechRecognitionServer.app. Then you can paste in the path
(/System/Library/Frameworks/Carbon.framework/Frameworks/SpeechRecognition.fr
amework/Resources/).
