Hello List,
I'm new here and I have no idea of Applescripting.
Well, now I should do following: we have here at work a fileserver with
samba and netatalk.
It works great. But on one problem we didn't found a solution:
The Macintosh stores the type of a file and the application which belong
to the file in resource forks.
So our users never used an ending for their files. But now we want to
read the files with Windows-Applications like Word or Excel.
Windows-systems need a file extension like ".doc" or ".xls" to assign
the file an application.
Now we had the idea to write an applescript which read out the resource
fork for every file and attach the right windows ending on the file.
Does someone has an idea? I don't know how an Mac stores the filetype.
I saw in one file in the .AppleDouble-Folder "TEXTUNIX". Maybe we can
say: when you find "TEXTUNIX" attach ".txt" or so.
Is it possible?
Thx.
Regards,
Alex
