It's likely that no one who knows anything can say anything. I know
nothing, so I can say it's highly unlikely that the underpinnings of
AppleScript go away. Apple *might* de-emphasize the text based writing of
scripts. But they can't ditch AppleScript without waving goodbye to the
publishing industry (which is likely the only reason AppleScript made it
into OS X in the first place).
