I've encountered a small mystery involving GUI Scripting and I can't figure
out what's going on. Hopefully someone on the list might have a good idea.
It involves the Workgroup Manager application from OS X server.
We run an OS X server and have emailed requests for accounts on an almost
daily basis. Since you can't import the Windows settings on an OS X server
using a Record Description file I decided to try using GUI scripting.
I downloaded both a trial version of UI Browser and the Apple UI Element
Inspector. Both showed me the paths to things like the tab for the Windows
settings and the text boxes for these things. Long story short I was able
to write a script to enter all the correct information into these boxes.
Here comes the mystery. If I try to run this script anywhere else it fails
because it can't find the tabs and text boxes. Workgroup Manager only shows
menu items in either of the tools listed above. I've tried duplicating the
contents of my Scripting Additions folder in case there was something there.
I made sure "Enable assistive devices" was enabled. I also made sure "full
keyboard access" was enabled on the other machines in case that was what
worked. In short I've duplicated all my settings (I believe) on 4 other
machines and none of them work with this script. All are clean installs of
10.3.2.
This script works great and continues to work great but only on my machine.
Anyone have any ideas on why the GUI items would show up on my machine and
no others? Have I missed checking or unchecking something?
Thanks,
