Perhaps the enhancement request should be for making
iTunes attachable. I think that's the correct term.

Yep, this is they way to go. Hopefully iTunes 4.3 or 4.5 or 5.0 or whatever the next version is will have this addition.

I hope so, too, but I will be pleasantly shocked if it does. Have you heard any suggestion this might happen? Given its potential usefulness, distressingly few applications support embeddability[1]. Let's see, from Apple we've got:

Finder
Mail
Digital Hub Scripting (not too terribly useful)
Any others?

From third parties:

AIM
Filemaker Pro (I assume, I've never used it)
BBEdit (I think, sort of--you can add scripts to other menus beside a single script menu at least, right?)
Smile
Frontier
What others?

Even in proportion to just the subset of applications that are scriptable, embeddability is rare. I'd love to see a lot more: Your web browser could trigger a script when it opens a new link, OmniOutliner could fire a script when you quit editing a row, or practically any application could run a script on start up; really, with a little imagination, the possibilities are limitless.
