I recall reading somewhere a workaround on how to use the new global
keyboard shortcuts option of the system prefs to launch an
applescript. I can't seem to get it to work, for either a script or

What are the options for making use of this global shortcut option as
a way of launching applescripts... either a script file in the
applescript menu and/or an applet anywhere else on the disk?
There was something about it on MacOSXHints, but I could never get it
to work. Your best bet is probably an add-on utility like iKey,
DragThing or Butler.
Yep. That's where I read it. I finally found it again, and still
couldn't get it to work. Neither could anyone else on the thread. I'm
wanting a solution for my users that uses standard install. Oh well, I
guess it's not possible.
Why on Earth would apple go to the trouble of adding a keyboard macro
function but not include the ability to use the keyboard combo as a
simple launcher? It befuddles me sometimes the things they do.
