So far, people haven't really jumped on board, but one thing strikes me
about the 'application address'. Can I (for example) replace
'com.apple.scripteditor' with the application address of (say) Smile?
You could, but it (probably) ain't gonna work. Script Editor has been
specifically designed to handle the "applescript://" protocol, and it
has an entry in its "/Contents/Info.plist" file "advertising" this.
When you click on that link in whatever browser or email app, I assume
at some point it gets passed on to Launch Services, which knows about
whatever apps which can handle the "applescript://" URL protocol.
Anyway, you guys should definitely check out Jonathan Nathan's Convert
Script to Markup Code application, which is an ASStudio app that does
conversion of your scripts to HTML as well as to the URL protocol:

Hope this helps....
