Writing a 'print selection' service in AS?

Is it possible to write a Cocoa service in AS that could print
whatever text is currently selected, or does this have to be done in
ObjC? For that matter, can you 'get the current selection' (yeah, it
would probably be something a tad bit more complicated in AS as opposed
to HC) in an AS that could then go in the script menu?
