Is there some reason why it should? The document structure has got all sorts
of properties - 'end' is not one of them. You need to study the dictionary -
which admittedly is no simple matter. You probably want to check out the
'text object' property of document, which is a 'text range' (found in the
Text Suite). There you can see ways of extending the 'content', if that's
what you want to do. There are also other ways, some of them quite simple.
You might be able to just 'set selection to '.
