A simple preference switch "Hide/Dislay Control Characters" which is set to
"Hide" by default, would be great -- like BBEdit's "Show Invisibles", and
similar settings in many other programs.

And it should work for script, event log and result windows, each set
independently from the others.

It would certainly save me a lot of confusion (and a lot of "log ASCII
number of character x of myString")!
