I'm not sure if this is what you want, but in the Example Scripts
folder in /Applications/AppleScript there is a folder
named Printing Scripts, in there is a Script named Convert to PDF,
which is basically the same thing as Print to PDF,
I use it quite a lot and it works quite well.
