Hello all,
I'm new to AppleScript so many of you will probably find this rather naive.
In the "old days" (before OS-X) I used to number chits consecutively
using KeyQuencer (A QuicKeys-like app). The same thing must be
possible in Applescript but I haven't quite figured out how.
I want to do is this in a field of an Appleworks DB document or
wherever I've clicked in any open document:
1/ start the session with a integer that I choose from a dialog box (say 1234)
2/ click in an Appleworks document and hit a keyboard shortcut (ie:F7
or cmd-opt-I or whatever)
3/ the integer is keyed into wherever I've put the insertion point
4/ the next time I hit the keyboard shortcut (whether in the same
document or in another one) the integer is again keyed in but
increased in value by 1 (ie: 1235 instead of 1234) and so forth 1236,
1237... etc.
5/ a really smooth embellishment would be if the last number used
could be saved between startups so that the dialog box showed that
number the next time I start a session. Asking too much maybe?
Mike
