Shortly after HTML started pouring through the list, I set this account at
my ISP so that HTML is converted to text (or the text alternative is allowed
through but not the HTML).  I did select the option to have the HTML appear
as an attachment.  About once per score of messages, I open the HTML to have
a look.

Things are good again (although Apple's Mail program still gets styles
through).
