While i haven't used it much yet Revolution appears to be a reincarnation of Hypercard. I think they've got a $99 version available, with a different name. so if xCode is challanging then you might want to check Revolution out. I have a short walk through on my web site showing how to build an applescript application in xCode and it shows how to address fields if i remember correctly. see http://www.ttsquare.com/AppleScript1.html

I am rebuilding a simple HyperCard stack with an Applescript, in xCode,
for use on my (new to me!) G3 iBook. So, OSX is also new to me, and the
xcode environment is a bit deeper than I'm used to.

The combination Hypertalk/Applescriptscript would get the contents of the
field, a return deliminited list, parse it and send each item to Palm
Desktop as a To Do item.

The script is adaptable in its structure and functions to a single
Applescript in the single button to send the items to iCal, except for
how I get the information out of the single field in this applications
window.

Previously I had used HyperCard to get the content of the field, put it
in a global and fetch it with the Applescript, except in this xCode
environment, I can't figure out how to designate the field with some kind
of name or identification, or how to find it, if it already exists.

any pointers?
