Monitor brightness and UI Scripting

  • Subject: Monitor brightness and UI Scripting

I posted a simple UI script to Apple's ColorSync-Users list at the beginning
of October and have received a couple of emails from people who are
interested in getting more control of this System Preference.

Embarrassingly, the only way I know of altering the monitor brightness value
is by using UI scripting. I say "embarrassingly" because this is fine for a
quick hack or for people who are familiar with ApplesScript - but a PITA
when you are dealing with people who know nothing about AS or the oddities
of the Mac OS :-(

Maybe I've missed a better method of adjusting monitor brightness - so, does
anybody have a non-UI method?

Regards
