The OSX version has some flaws, primarily due to Carbon interfaces that don't seem to behave the same as they did before Carbon. Since Jon's Commands was written in 1993, it's all old code and a lot of it needs to be rewritten using new APIs in order for it to work well.
For example, the Get/Set volume commands don't round trip. If you set the volume to what you get back, it will creep up. I'm pretty sure that's not my fault, but I can't seem to figure out what the system is doing. It's certainly not doing what it is documented as.
Additionally, the screen commands don't work because the Carbon APIs I was using simply print out "not implemented" on the console. Very helpful.
Mind you, that's the majority of the known serious problems right there. I'm using Jon's Commands whenever I need them and they do work in general.
Given my workload on InDesign/InCopy, and my children, including a wild 4yr old boy, I simply don't have the time it takes to rewrite the parts of Jon's Commands that need it. That's why it's still a development version.
Plus, the shareware registrations stopped coming in a few years ago. That took a lot of the motivation out of working on it. ;)
Jon
