Hello,
I have to convert literally thousands of Quark files to InDesign 2.0 - but
the converted files break a simple Applescript that creates a couple text
boxes on the page. I have tested the script successfully on an InDesign
file that has no Quark legacy, so obviously, converted files are the
problem. I have recently discovered that Quark 6 also chokes AppleScript
similarly on its own converted version 4 files.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I forsee the following scripted workflow:
1) convert all files to InDesign
2) create new InDesign files that map their specifications to those of the
converted ones
3) move/copy the elements from the converted version to the new version;
close the converted and save the new (under a different name, like
"document_new"
4) create subfolders in the original directory for the Quark files and the
converted files, stash them there after the new ones are created
5) strip the names of the new files of the "_new" strings to make them equal
the names of the original quark files
Does anyone have a script that can do this they'd be willing to share?
Thanks!
Bill Planey
