A number of reasons...

  1. it’s passive...i don’t have to go looking for things, it comes to me
  2. it’s easier to ignore parts of threads if I choose to
  3. MUCH easier to archive things locally
  4. off-line access is far easier
  5. I can process list traffic as I wish
  6. Many corporations lock down web access much tighter than email.

Ladies and gentlemen, you must resist those all-too-human feelings and decide this case on the evidence. And the evidence plainly shows that Mr. Landa's injuries, disfiguring as they are,  are nowhere near as important to a free society as the fundamental right to make smart-ass remarks.
