Those sounded unfamiliar so I checked on my OS 9 box. I had an alias sitting the desktop

files -l 'Callisto:Desktop Folder:SprintAntenna alias'  (an MPW shell command)
Type	Crtr
 faet	MACS

So. . . watch out for old files and networked aliases.
