Um, that's the way it's always been; it hasn't changed.

I have gotten literally HUNDREDS of obnoxious auto-replies from vacation messages, mailbox quota full messages, anti-spam tools, etc.

For some reason, I don't see them in reply to any messages I send here.

Of course these tools should be using the Reply-To, but they don't,

This list doesn't have a reply-to; all replies default to the sender. We have to either reply to all or manually change the address ourselves.
