New Applescript user...

First of all I would like to say 'Hi' to the list.

And to participate right away, I have a question:

I am totally new with Applescript. Can I access all applications that run on MacOSx?

I want in some way to access a local running website, and from there control an application to start recording. The recording software is from the BlackMagic Design's Decklink card.

Searching with Google, didn't bring me results on how to access something.

I hope you can help me on my way.
