Well, what a storm one can create by responding in kind, I see. So, this is what I learned here today:
1) It is acceptable for Martin, whose existence had escaped me before today, to title a message "Finder f*ck-ups" and call the programming (a product of programmers, by the way) "pathetic." It is not acceptable, in return, to use the acronym "STFU" when asking for evidence of this. Perhaps "shut the f*ck up" would have been more acceptable under the rules.
2) It's always in fashion to Finder-bash on the list, whether or not the problem or the solution has anything at all to do with AppleScript.
3) It is far more important to be defensive about Finder-bashing than it is to point out that the original problem, according to the original post, is barely related to the Finder, and that the only Finder bug involved (disappearing icons in windows) would not solve the larger problem even if it were fixed.
4) Details on how to report a bug so it might get fixed, or explanations of the *actual technical issue that prompted the original message*, are to be ignored and insulted if they do not properly bash the Finder or praise the people who do bash the Finder.
All very interesting, but as Dave Nelson said in "NewsRadio": "Wait a minute -- if what you're saying is true, then I still don't care!"
My message was correct, my tone was in line with that of the original post, and, oh yeah, MY MESSAGE WAS CORRECT. Read it, don't read it; find it useful or not. I'm done with the topic now and will know better than to reply to similar in the future.
