The escape of OS X for MacIntel "into the wild" is a brilliant bit of strategy by Apple. It is designed to encourage sampling of (and hopefully, lust for) OS X in the Wintel market.

Keep in mind, though, that the OS that's out there is an unfinished, certainly buggy version. You can bet that by the time the "real" MacIntel systems ship, Apple will have tightened up the hardware and software to make them much more hack-resistant.

In its price competition with Wintel hardware, I doubt Apple would throw away a key advantage by not using cheap, mass-produced parts. With, of course, certain Apple "touches."
