I think you have put your finger on a huge problem in AppleScript. Its
true, AppleScript lacks the features needed to address any of issues you
raise. I suggest filing a series of bugs with Apple.
When AppleScript gains the features needed to address these kinds of issues,
we'll begin discussing them.
