I think that Todd's email address counts as a playground badge.

I don't. Authority is very carefully controlled. Having @apple.com in your email address doesn't confer any special rights. Special rights are given to a few people for specific reasons, such as being on playground duty at the applescript-users creche. If Todd has some legitimate power to control the list of participants then he should make that plain. He shouldn't presume that we know who he is.

For Todd's sake, I read this much of his message without qualms:
"Let's please try to focus on the issue (as is going on in parallel with this nonsense) and not the personality conflicts which waste everyone's bandwidth. If you wish to continue flaming, do so off the list".

That part of his post seemed sensible. Everything after that was ill considered.

It was bad judgement to leave the text of the message he had used to reply to the thread in the message that he posted. If that's all it was then I wouldn't have bothered to respond. We all make mistakes and that mistake wouldn't be worth commenting on.

However, the quoted text wasn't left there through laziness, carelessness or thoughtlessness. Todd hadn't simply used the message to reply to the thread. He edited the the text of the reply in a way which changed it substantially. That was a deliberate action that changed his posting. He was now using - misusing - Michelle's posting for some other, unstated purpose. I don't know why he did it or what he wanted to achieve by it. However, I do expect to see an apology from Todd for doing it.
