You're confused. The US constitution says that government may not interfere with free speech. US business is not government and may restrict speech within its enterprise pretty much as it wishes.

Which was the bit you snipped - the point about *illegitimate authority*. Apple can make up whatever rules they want about their lists and we can either comply or go elsewhere.

Complying with the language requirements of unknown US corporations that we (the posters) aren't contractually linked with is the bit that seems odd to me. And what right do they have to send me UCE complaining about my language?

Maybe I am confused - I just don't recognise corporations as being as important as people or their democratically elected governments. It's hardly a new idea. Thomas Jefferson complained about "an aristocracy founded on banking institutions and moneyed incorporations” bringing about “the end of democracy and freedom” in 1816.

Countries like yours and mine have no constitutional limits on government, so (for instance) the Canadian government can pass laws subjecting its citizens to jail time for saying things that the politically correct crowd find offensive.

That isn't true. Just because you have an uncodified constitution, it doesn't mean that you don't have a constitution.

However, the UK certainly has nothing to offer by example when it comes to freedom of speech. That's why it's the destination of choice for those rich enough to take advantage of our High Court and our libel laws.

Regards
