Thomas Jefferson was also an elitist and had all the money management skills
of a drunken sailor, but that's not the point.
This is Apple's list. It is run on their servers. They pay for the people
who maintain the list, and the servers that run it. If they want to require
us to post in the same rhyming pattern as a song from the "Mary Poppins"
movie in Gaelic, they can. It's their list. They can do what they want.
There's not even a "within reason clause". You have precisely two
choices..comply or leave. Really. You can complain, and that may or may not
change anything, but "comply or leave" are what your choices on any mailing
list you're not in charge of are.
If you run a mailing list, then the users of that list have the same two
choices wrt your rules: Comply or leave. There's no freedom of speech on a
non-governmental mailing list. Really. Not in the US at least, and since
that's where this list is hosted, that's the rules you have to deal with.
